I sat down to talk to Art therapy lecturer Manda Thompson from the University of Chester. She teaches the subject and also works outside the classroom as an art therapist using the practice to help young children.
She talked to me about her students and what they have to do after they complete their degrees and what they have to do during their time on the course. She explained, saying that they have to undergo personal art therapy sessions to understand the process and also have to practice as an artist in the community for a few years too.
In the video here, I talked to her about her thoughts on the funding situation for art therapists, what she does during her time at the university and outside, the importance of art therapy today and what people should do should they think of doing art therapy in the future.
